  Is Librarianship a Teaching Profession in Bangladesh? Aktarul Islam Is librarianship a teaching profession or can a librarian be called a teacher? This must be an awkward question to many as the idea of a library or the profession of a librarian often creates confusion not only among the common masses but a larger portion of the educated community has the narrowest view regarding library and librarianship at large in Bangladesh. Even to many people “Book store” is a library and the person who sells books to the customers is a librarian by profession. On the academic premises also, the librarians are not valued properly by the academics because they do hardly consider “Librarianship” as a teaching profession, rather a clerical job without having a proper understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the librarians. উচ্চ শিক্ষার নিম্ন দশা আকতারুল ইসলাম ------------------------------- উচ্চশিক্ষার মান নিম্নগামী তাতে কার কি আসে যায়! চাকরি থাকলেই সব ঠিক। পদ পদবীতে অগ্ৰগামীতা  রাজনৈতিক আনুগত্যের মাপকাঠিতে উত্তীর্ণ হওয়াটাই এখন যোগ্যতার ভিত্তি। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে রাজনীতি হয়, বড় বড় ভবন আর বয়োজ্যেষ্ঠ অধ্যাপকদের কথার ফুলঝুরি সর্বত্রই প্রতিধ্বনিত হয়ে ইট পাথরের দেয়ালে সজোরে লাগে। পলেস্তারা খসে পড়ে হঠাৎ। তবুও আর বিদ্যা ঝরে পড়ে না।  গবেষণার জন্য অর্থ নাই, অর্থ জুটলেও গবেষক নাই। গবেষণায় সবার মন নাই। রাজনীতিই এখন সর্বেসর্বা। শ্রেণি কক্ষে মাস্টার মশাই একাই একশ, মান্ধাতার যুগের শ্বেত শুভ্র থেকে লোহিতে রূপান্তরিত সেই লেকচার পত্র, আজও তাদের জ্ঞান বিমুখতার সাক্ষী। শিক্ষার্থীদের তাতে মনোনিবেশ করার আর আগ্ৰহ নাই। দেশের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোতে এখন সবই হয় শুধু শিক্ষার শনির দশাটাই আর কাটতে চায় না। প্রাচ্যের অক্সফোর্ড আর ক্যামব্রিজ এখন শীতনিদ্রায়, তাতে চাকরি করনেওয়ালা পন্ডিনগনের হুঁশ ফেরা দায়। ছেলে, মেয়ে, আর বৌ জামাই দুহাত ভরে করছে কামাই। পরের ছেলেমেয়ে নিয়ে আর কার কি আসে যায়! সান্ধ্য কোর্স, আর নামসর্বস...

  আজি বসন্ত জাগ্রত দ্বারে রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর তব অবগুন্ঠিত কুন্ঠিত জীবনে কোরো না বিড়ম্বিত তারে। আজি খুলিয়ো হৃদয়দল খুলিয়ো, আজি ভুলিয়ো আপনপর ভুলিয়ো, এই সংগীতমুখরিত গগনে তব গন্ধ করঙ্গিয়া তুলিয়ো। এই বাহিরভূবনে দিশা হারায়ে দিয়ো ছড়ায়ে মাধুরী ভারে ভারে। অতি নিবিড় বেদনা বনমাঝে রে আজি পল্লবে পল্লবে বাজে রে – দূরে গগনে কাহার পথ চাহিয়া আজি ব্যকুল বসুন্ধরা সাজে রে। মোর পরানে দখিন বায়ু লাগিছে, কারে দ্বারে দ্বারে কর হানি মাগিছে, এই সৌরভবিহবল রজনী কার চরণে ধরণীতলে জাগিছে। ওগো সুন্দর, বল্লভ, কান্ত, তব গম্ভীর আহবান কারে। 

  ক্ষণিকা রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর খোলো খোলো, হে আকাশ, স্তব্ধ তব নীল যবনিকা – খুঁজে নিতে দাও সেই আনন্দের হারানো কণিকা। কবে সে যে এসেছিল আমার হৃদয়ে যুগান্তরে গোধূলিবেলার পান্থ জনশূন্য এ মোর প্রান্তরে লয়ে তার ভীরু দীপশিখা! দিগন্তের কোন্ পারে চলে গেল আমার ক্ষণিকা।।

অমন আড়াল দিয়ে লুকিয়ে গেলে রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর অমন আড়াল দিয়ে লুকিয়ে গেলে চলবে না। (রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের প্রেমের কবিতা) এবার হৃদয় মাঝে লুকিয়ে বোসো, কেউ জানবে না, কেউ বলবে না। বিশ্বে তোমার লুকোচুরি, দেশ বিদেশে কতই ঘুরি – এবার বলো আমার মনের কোণে দেবে ধরা, ছলবে না। আড়াল দিয়ে লুকিয়ে গেলে চলবে না। জানি আমার কঠিন হৃদয় চরণ রাখার যোগ্য সে নয় – সখা, তোমার হাওয়া লাগলে হিয়ায় তবু কি প্রাণ গলবে না। না হয় আমার নাই সাধনা, ঝরলে তোমার কৃপার কণা তখন নিমেষে কি ফুটবে না ফুল চকিতে ফল ফলবে না। আড়াল দিয়ে লুকিয়ে গেলে চলবে না।

প্রিয়তমা সমীপেষু আকতারুল ইসলাম ------------------------- ওগো শীতের বুড়ি, তোমায় নিয়ে শব্দ গাঁথি আমার গীতি কবিতায়, তোমায় নিয়ে আকাশ আঁকি সারা রাত্রি নির্ঘুম নিরালায়। ওগো বসন্ত বুড়ি, ছবি এঁকেছি তোমার আকাশ গঙ্গায় তারাকারা মেশানো রং তুলি দিয়ে, তোমার জলছবি ভাসাই ত্রিমোহনায় দেখি প্রতিদিন অবাক চেয়ে। ওগো বর্ষা বুড়ি, বর্ষার জলে শুনি শব্দ তোমার মেঘের দেশে উদ্দাম অহর্নিশ বিচরণ একি বাস্তব নাকি ভ্রান্তি আমার! দিকহারা নির্ণয়ে তোমার মনের ব্যাকরণ। তবুও গো বলছি বুড়ি, গ্রীষ্মের খরতাপে দগ্ধ হব, শরতের শুভ্র মেঘের ডানায় যাব ভেসে  হেমন্ত উৎসবে প্রফুল্ল চিত্ত মম নবান্নের আমেজে স্নাত হতে যাব তোমার দেশে।   ১৬ জানুয়ারি ২০২২, রংপুর।

সাম্রাজ্যবাদের বিষবাষ্প ,   ফিরে দেখা   দ্বিতীয় বিশ্বযুদ্ধ আকতারুল ইসলাম                   মানব সভ্যতার   অগ্ৰযাত্রা কখনোই বাঁধা মুক্ত ,  অবিরাম   চলমান   কিংবা   চির   মসৃণ   ছিল না ।   সভ্যতার বিকাশে কতগুলো   নিয়ামক শক্তি   বিদ্যমান   যেগুলো   সভ্যতার   গতি প্রাবাহকে টেনে   ধরেছে   প্রতিনিয়ত,   থামিয়ে দিতে   চেয়েছে এর বিকাশ ও উন্মেষকে   ।   প্রতিবন্ধকতা   সৃষ্টিকারী   নিয়ামকসমূহের মধ্যে যেমন   রয়েছে   কিছু   প্রাকৃতিক কার্যকারণ   , তেমনই রয়েছে   কিছু   মানবসৃষ্ট প্রভাবক   যা সভ্যতার   বিনির্মাণের   পথে   ধ্বংসাত্মক   ভূমিকা পালন করেছে ।   মানবসৃষ্ট   যেসকল   প্রভাবক   সভ্যতার অগ্ৰযাত্রাকে বারবার   রুদ্ধ   করেছে , তাদের মধ্যে   যুদ্ধ   অন্যতম   অনুঘটক।   মানবসভ্যতার   ঊষা...
